We're proud and a little biased to say it really doesn't get any better than our honey. 100% raw, unfiltered and unpasteurised our honey is a celebration of the blossoms from our pristine environment here in the South West, flourishing with some of the best tastes and medicinal benefits available to the world. Since 2001 we've been learning and growing our small family business to now home over 350 hives located from Nannup to Metricup in Western Australia's spectacular South West. Here our bees are delighted by some of the oldest forestry in the world, including the world famous Karri, Redgum and Jarrah trees.
How is our honey different?
With all our hives we strive to maintain our integrity, sustainability and ethical practices to ensure that our produce is just that.
In addition to this we work hand in hand with others in the industry including beekeepers, scientists, tourism operators and chefs to ensure that we're able to sustain beekeeping as a practice into the future.
Classed as migratory commercial beekeepers, we move our hives around throughout the South West to maintain seasonal flow and allow our 'workers' to get the best food source available during the course of the year which in turn encourages and maintains healthy colonies and produces spectacular honey.
What perhaps makes our honey so special however, are two particular chemicals called TA+ and MGO.
What is TA+ and MGO?
When you see TA+ on our honey labels, it's referring to our honeys anti-microbial ability. TA is like a bacteria killing scale; the higher the TA the greater the antimicrobial strength. The anti-bacterial activity of honey is derived via natural enzymes and chemicals in the honey.
MGO on the other hand is more preventative and this chemical is particularly found in Manuka honey. MGO or Methylglyoxal has antiviral and antioxidant benefits. In fact, it has traditionally been used for wound healing, soothing sore throats, preventing tooth decay and improving digestive issues.
So what's so special about raw honey?
Our raw honey contains natural pollens, enzymes and plant trace elements - all of which can super charge your immune systems and even help with digestion.
To ensure this, we get each batch or our honey tested so we know exactly how good it is and how good it is for you.
